Gaining knowledge through visualisation – that is the core of the see-Conference in Wiesbaden, one of the largest design conferences in Germany with over 800 participants. Since 2006, the see-Conference has been dedicated to visualising data and information. And increasingly in the context of sustainable concepts, because only good visualisation can make social truths visible amidst the flood of information.
Line up
The see-Conference brings together what belongs together: design, art and architecture, of course – but also creative people from business and journalism, sociology, philosophy and technology. People who want to shape a better future. The interdisciplinary curation of the see-Conference opens up new perspectives that make the influence of our actions on future generations visible – so that we can finally get to work. Learning from the best and putting it into practice straight away – this also characterises the structure of the two-day conference: Saturday food for thought at its best, Sunday hands on.
Organiser
Images have always transformed visions into longing and thus helped to turn utopias into reality. Fifty years ago, these were technical utopias. Today, we lack social utopias in particular. Yet they are essential in a society that is increasingly drifting apart. How do we want to live in the age after overexploitation, after ‘more and more’ and ‘everything always’? This future does not yet have any images – which is another reason why the present seems to many to have no alternative. Making visions of a future worth living tangible so that it becomes reality – that is the driving force behind the association ‘Images of the future’.
WebsiteDesign for democracy
‘Design for Democracy. Atmospheres for a better life.’ – with this theme, Frankfurt RheinMain has been awarded the title ‘World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026’. As a cooperation partner, the 17th see-Conference is an official part of the project. Together with a wide variety of stakeholders, discourse will be initiated at the conference and as part of the see-Camp, and projects and initiatives will be devised that will ideally be implemented in the World Design Capital 2026 programme. Images of the future and ways to get there that we design together – from biodiversity to neighbourhood design: visions of a better world that are worth taking action for right away – through a participatory design process that could be imitated as a ‘toolkit for the world’.
Sustainability
International speakers and around 800 guests – that's not possible without CO2 emissions. We keep these as low as possible: wherever possible, we use rail and public transport. And if travelling by air from abroad is unavoidable, we offset the emissions.
We are uncompromising when it comes to catering: our regional providers will spoil you with vegetarian or vegan delights – without plastic. And the drinks are served in glasses that our team washes hundreds of times. We think it's wonderful that you also make the see-Conference a clean affair with care and goodwill. Many thanks for that!

Exhibition
To accompany the conference, we will be showcasing the best young talent's work on the topics of data visualisation, physical computing and sustainability at the venue. In addition to existing partners such as the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Art and Design and the RheinMain and Darmstadt Universities of Applied Sciences, we are of course also looking forward to making new contacts in the creative world of academia.
